Very good food and low prices for the area. Nothing fancy on the menu but solid food every time I go there. From great sandwiches to tasty steak tips. Deals on pitchers and drinks abound. Last time I was there they had s'mores for dessert. A laid back option in Newton.

You know those neighborhood bars where you walk or drive there after work, and the bartender has your drink ready before you sit in your stool? This is that type of place. It's so low-key, that while sitting at a booth, the bartender/server gave me and my friend the TV remote for the nearest TV so we could watch what we wanted. Now, that's service...considering we didn't even ASK for the remote!

Great steak tips and burgers. Also have good wings. Could be a family friendly place if you can sit in the booth.

There are weeks when I find my way to West Street two or more nights out of the seven. Many of the locals love the steak tips, but I prefer the burgers and fried food - their burgers are a good size and cooked to perfection and you can't go wrong starting off with a Cha Cha La La appetizer sampler. New menu also includes a cheddar and crab dip as an appetizer, which is too good for words. My wife enjoys the pulled pork, and their sandwiches and wraps are excellent too. It's pretty much all good. I don't believe we've ever been disappointed with a meal there. And everyone we've taken there has mentioned they want to go back. Service is excellent - Jim employs some of the nicest wait-staff you'll ever meet. It does get extremely busy weekend nights, as it's not a large place. Bar staff mix up some great drinks (Long Islands come to mind), and there's a good selection of beer on tap and in the bottle. Pitchers are available for very reasonable prices. Available for dessert: make your own smores. It's a lot of fun, and even more fun after a couple drinks! If you're in the Nontantum area and are looking for some excellent pub food and local pub atmosphere, this is where you go. People new to the area may be fooled into trying Tommy Doyle's, across the street on Rt 16, but the locals know better.

Steven D is correct - West Street has great Steak Tips, Huge portions, food the way you like it and wait staff who remember the regulars from outside of the neighborhood. So well worth the visit... even with kids! We brought some friends from out of town for dinner - they so enjoyed it that they will be back just to go back for dinner again.

By far the BEST STEAK TIPS in Boston! Huge portions, tender and cooked exactly the way you like them! Fried Clam and Calamari plates are mountainous and famous for the fresh factor. Enjoy the daily specials, too! From Southern BBQ to Exotic Fish Dishes and Turkey Tips....you cannot go wrong here, Folks. This is a Small place, some may not like close proximity to tables and bar; however keep in mind this is truly a "Neighborhood" establishment. Try the Meat; it is amazing. Ask for George, tell him Steven sent you and he'll take great care of you! Cheers~
